The Department of State Services (DSS) has released the detained president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero.

Ajaero was released on bail about after 11:00 pm, on Monday, September 10, after he wrote a statement.

Credible sources in the NLC say Ajaero’s release followed a threat by the Labour union to mobilise its affiliate unions for a nationwide showdown with the federal government if Ajaero was not released by midnight on Monday/Tuesday, September 9/10.

Ajaero was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday, September 9, on his way to the United Kingdom for a global Trade Union Congress meeting.
