A group of individuals in Madhya Pradesh, India, learned a harsh lesson after attempting to lure a wild leopard closer for photos—only to be attacked by the big cat. The incident occurred in central India’s state of Madhya Pradesh when the group, reportedly on a picnic, spotted the leopard in nearby woods and called it over, according to the Indian Express.
Initially, the group fired up their smartphones, laughing and filming as the predator approached. However, the mood quickly shifted when the leopard dashed toward them at full speed. One man, caught on camera, was chased down and mauled before others managed to scare the animal away.
Three people were injured in the attack and were rushed to a local hospital. The severity of their injuries has not yet been disclosed.
Authorities have since issued a warning, advising visitors to avoid the area and to be cautious of the dangerous wildlife inhabiting the surrounding woods and parklands.
