Liverpool manager Arne Slot has reminded his players about Arsenal’s Premier League title collapse last season.
Slot was speaking after their nervy 3-2 victory over Southampton on Sunday.
The win took the Reds eight points clear of Manchester City, who were thrashed 4-0 by Tottenham.
Slot was keen to remind his squad that the Gunners let an eight-point lead slip in March 2023, eventually losing the title to City.
When asked about how positive an eight-point lead is after just 12 Premier League games this season, the Dutchman replied: “I think it was last season, even later on in the season, that Arsenal led by eight points and City came back. So you know if you face Arsenal, City, Chelsea and all these other teams, Tottenham were great yesterday as well, they are all able to win so many games in a row. It’s nice to have this position but we are definitely not getting carried away.”
