Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has admitted that he feels sorry for the club’s frontman, Joshua Zirkzee.
This was after the Netherlands international was taken off during the first half of the Red Devils’ defeat to Newcastle in the Premier League.
Ferdinand, a Red Devils legend, is hoping that the forward can recover from the setback and get back to his best.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand highlighted how difficult it was for any player to be taken off in the first half of a match.
“I feel for him. I’m really, really gutted for him as a former professional footballer,” the former England defender said, adding that substituting a player after 30 minutes of the game is hard to take.
Rio Ferdinand further noted that there were even boos from fans when the Dutchman was dragged off to further dampen his spirit.
“It’s difficult, man. My heart goes out to him and I hope he can recover and I hope he gets rebuilt from within, from the players and the manager.”
