A suspected kidnappers’ informant has been arrested in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State.
The suspect was arrested by men of the Benue State Volunteer Security Guard on Monday, January 6, 2025, after two weeks of intense surveillance and tracking.
Special Adviser on Media and Political Matters, Ohimini Local Government, Audu Sunday, in a statement on Tuesday, January 7, said the suspect is said to be one of the errand boys linked to kidnappers operating in the Ankpechi-Egwanokwu axis of the area.
“The Volunteer Security Guard, Ohimini Branch, has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against insecurity. Yesterday, 6th January 2025, the security team apprehended one of the errand boys linked to the persistent kidnappers operating in the Ankpechi-Egwanokwu axis,” the statement read.
“This intelligent arrest came after two weeks of intense surveillance and tracking by the dedicated Volunteer Security Guard.
“The suspect, who claims to be an indigene of Edumoga in Okpokwu Local Government, is currently in custody and has provided crucial information during investigations.
“The Commandant of the Volunteer Security Guard, Officer Owoicho Odeh , commended the relentless efforts of his team in addressing the security challenges facing Ohimini residents.
“He assured the public that strategic measures are being deployed to dismantle the kidnapping syndicate and restore peace and safety to the area.
“The Executive Chairman of Ohimini Local Government, Hon. Adole lauded the proactive efforts of the Volunteer Security Guard and their leadership under Officer Owoicho Odeh. He expressed gratitude for their dedication and urged them to continue their vigilance and commitment to securing the lives and property of the people.
“Honourable Adole further assured the security team of his administration’s unwavering support in providing the necessary resources and logistics to strengthen their operations. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents across Ohimini Local Government.
