The last is yet to be heard on multiple scandals surrounding the embattled Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as leaked document reveals how she used intimidation and harassment to force his then man friend, Chief Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Uduaghan to marry her.
Then Ms Natasha Akpoti whose previous marriages had fatally crashed saw Chief Uduaghan as her last hope to gain marital legitimacy at a time she was nursing the intention of contesting senatorial seat.
In a leaked document obtained by our correspondent dated 19th November 2020 and titled, “IN THE MATTER OF BREACH OF PROMISE OF MARRIAGE, POISONING, FOETICIDE, INDUCING LOSS OF AMENITIES, ASSAULT, CAUSING FINANCIAL LOSS AND INDEBTEDNESS TO MS. NATASHA AKPOTI” the now suspended lawmakers through her legal representation demanded the sum of N10 billion from Chief Uduaghan as compensation for his several infractions against her, including induced abortion.
In the document signed by Chief B.C Igwilo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria of the Indemnity Chambers, Natasha also accused Chief Uduaghan of causing her financial losses during the period of their courtship as he allegedly stopped her from pursuing her economic interests, causing her financial losses despite helping him secure a gas asset worth $105 million.
It reads in part, “You demonstrated the assurance of marriage by parading her before the world and notable personalities as your wife. Corroborative evidence of this abound. In reciprocation, our Client dutifuly became subservient to you in anticipation of marriage. With a law degree and MBA under her belt, she also became your financial and business adviser and was particularly instrumental in your successful acquisition of a gas asset worth about $105,000,000.00 (One Hundred and Five Milion US Dolars), a hotel and other investments. She has competence in oil and gas”.
It further reads, “It is against the foregoing that you have also outightly repudiated your much avowed resolve and promise to marry our Client, after subjecting her to slavery and servitude for about 3 years, coupled with virtual loss of esteem and identity. At all material times, you appropriated her entire life by cohabiting with her, planting armed guards and personnel in her residence and hijacking her social life and routine.
“During the period in question she served you well as business and financial advisor and equally lent you the sum of N400,000,000.00 (Four Hundred Milion Naira). She has made repeated demands for repayment of this loan and you have redeemed only N200 Milion leaving an outstanding of N200 Million.
“Our Client also seeks payment of the sum of N10 Billion as compensation for consultancy and other services rendered to you, loss of financial opportunities and earnings, loss and impairment of reproductive organs, feticide, pain and suffering, assault occasioning harm and breach of promise of marriage”.
Also in the document, Natasha’s counsel made reference to an NDDC and SMEDAN contract worth N7bn seeking the establishment of technology development and business growth hub in Akwa Ibom.
She won the multi billion Naira contract in NDDC when the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio was the Minister in charge of the defunct Ministry of Niger Delta between 2019 up till 2022.
Recall that Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan had accused Akpabio now the Senate President of sexually harassing her sometimes in 2023 in Akwa Ibom, an allegation Akpabio has denied.
The allegation came after Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan’s removal as the Chairman of Senate Committee on Local Content.
Following internal reforms in the Senate, Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan was also re-assigned a new seat in the Senate Chamber in exercise of the Senate President’s role but she refused to occupy her new seat, instead accusing Akpabio of breaching her rights without providing evidence.
Following her series of unparliamentary conducts, the Senate suspended Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months.
