#ChampionsLeague: ‘It has happened many time’ – Ancelotti on comeback against Arsenal

Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has expressed hope that his side will secure a ‘remontada’ against Arsenal this week.

Remontada is a Spanish word that roughly translates to ‘the comeback.’

The word arguably first became famous after Barcelona beat PSG 6-1 in the Champions League in March 2017.

PSG had beaten Barça 4-0 in the Round-of-16 first leg, with the game all but concluded on paper.

However, the LaLiga giants scripted history on the night at Camp Nou, beating the French Ligue 1 superpowers 6-1 to move to the quarterfinals with a 6-5 aggregate score.

Real Madrid have now found themselves in a similar position after they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium last week against Arsenal.

The LaLiga champions haven’t been entirely convincing this season in the Champions League and needed a playoff win against Manchester City to qualify for the knockouts.

However, speaking on Saturday (April 12), as cited by Madrid Xtra, Ancelotti insisted that Real Madrid will fight until the last minute against the Gunners.

“Remontada? We will try. It happened many times. We will try until the last minute,” Ancelotti told reporters during a press conference this weekend.

In LaLiga, Real Madrid are also trailing Barcelona in the title race this season, sitting in second position after 30 games.

Los Blancos have already lost twice to Barcelona this season and also face them in the Copa del Rey final later this month.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are second in the Premier League, 11 points behind leaders Liverpool with seven games left to play.
