Liverpool Football Club are ready to light up the summer transfer window with a bold £95 million double swoop on Premier League rivals Bournemouth, as new head coach Arne Slot sets his sights on strengthening key areas of his squad. According to a fresh report, the Merseyside giants are preparing to push hard for the signatures of Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen in a move that underscores their ambitions for sustained domestic dominance.

Despite a relatively quiet first transfer window under Slot’s leadership, Liverpool are set to be aggressive this time around. Having guided the Reds to the brink of the Premier League title in his debut season, Slot is now intent on reshaping his team for both short-term success and long-term competitiveness.

It’s no secret that the Dutch tactician has made defensive reinforcements a priority, with upgrades needed across multiple positions in the backline. The likes of Andy Robertson, though a legend at Anfield, has shown signs of age and wear, and Slot is eager to secure a younger, more dynamic option at left-back.

That’s where Milos Kerkez enters the fray. The 20-year-old Hungarian full-back has impressed at Bournemouth, catching the eye with his pace, work ethic, and attacking threat. With a reported £45 million price tag, Liverpool are weighing up a firm bid, seeing Kerkez as the perfect long-term successor to Robertson.

But the Reds aren’t stopping there. Central defence is another area of concern, especially with Joel Matip’s contract running out and questions remaining over Joe Gomez’s long-term role. Enter Dean Huijsen, another Bournemouth standout who has burst onto the Premier League scene with maturity beyond his years. At just 20, Huijsen is already commanding attention from several top clubs, including Chelsea and Arsenal.

Liverpool, however, are confident in their pursuit. Reports suggest that Huijsen’s £50 million release clause is payable in three manageable instalments, making him an attractive and accessible target. Slot, impressed by the youngster’s composure and ball-playing ability, sees him as a cornerstone for Liverpool’s defensive rebuild.

Together, the pursuit of Kerkez and Huijsen amounts to a potential £95 million investment—evidence that Liverpool are prepared to flex their financial muscle in the upcoming window. The club’s recruitment strategy under Slot is expected to be significantly more aggressive than in the previous year, where only two players—Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili—were signed, and even those didn’t make immediate impacts at Anfield.

Interestingly, Liverpool’s ambitions may lead to departures as well. With Mamardashvili now set to finally join the squad from Valencia after a loan spell, Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to leave in search of regular first-team football. Bournemouth, the very club Liverpool are targeting, are reportedly interested in bringing Kelleher on board as part of a potential swap strategy or a separate deal.

Midfielder Harvey Elliott and teenage winger Ben Doak are also said to be on Bournemouth’s radar. Though Liverpool are unlikely to part with Elliott permanently, a loan move could be on the cards, particularly if the Reds bring in a new attacking midfielder—another one of Slot’s stated priorities.

Beyond the defence, Slot is reportedly exploring options for a new striker amid growing uncertainty over Darwin Núñez’s future. The Uruguayan has endured a mixed spell at Anfield, and while his work rate and pace are valued, his inconsistency in front of goal may force Liverpool to consider alternatives.

Should a striker depart, Liverpool are expected to go all-in on a more clinical option to complement their current attacking arsenal, which includes Mohamed Salah, Luis Díaz, Diogo Jota, and Cody Gakpo. The summer window could also bring fresh competition in midfield, with the club still searching for a complete, box-to-box engine to bolster the center of the park.

While Liverpool fans are already celebrating what appears to be another title-winning season, the club’s hierarchy is working behind the scenes to ensure that this success is not fleeting. The strategy under Slot appears clear: refresh the spine of the team with youth, athleticism, and high potential players who can grow together.

The proposed double move for Kerkez and Huijsen not only reflects this philosophy but also hints at Liverpool’s broader ambition. They are not just content to win—they want to build a dynasty capable of competing at the highest level for years to come.

However, Liverpool’s rivals are unlikely to sit idle. Arsenal and Chelsea are also in the race for Huijsen, while Fulham’s Antonee Robinson remains an alternative target should the Kerkez deal hit any snags. Nonetheless, early indications suggest Liverpool are firmly in the driver’s seat.

As the summer approaches, all eyes will be on how Arne Slot shapes his squad for the next phase of Liverpool’s evolution. If this £95 million swoop is anything to go by, fans can expect a bold and potentially transformative window ahead.
