The Lagos State Police Command has made a major breakthrough in the investigation of a shocking homicide that took place in the Abule Egba area. A woman, identified as 35-year-old Adeola Adewale, has been arrested in connection with the death of a 65-year-old man, who was found lifeless in a service apartment on March 28.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident began on March 27 when the suspect rented a service apartment at the facility in the company of the victim, later identified as Mr. Adebayo. The woman, whose identity remained unknown at the time, left the apartment hours later, taking the deceased’s car and personal belongings with her, telling the housekeeper she would return shortly.
The discovery of Adebayo’s body occurred the following day, when a routine check by the staff found the man dead inside the apartment. Investigators found an empty syringe, two empty cans of malt drink, and two bottles of water at the scene, all of which raised suspicions of foul play. The body was removed and sent for autopsy at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
Following an intense investigation led by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Adeola Adewale was tracked down and arrested at about 9:30 p.m. on April 26 in the Oko-Oba area of Lagos. During interrogation, she confessed to poisoning Adebayo, administering a malt drink laced with a toxic substance that ultimately caused his death.
Further investigation revealed that Adewale had known the victim, but the circumstances surrounding their relationship remain unclear. The suspect is currently in police custody, and authorities continue to probe the case for additional details that may shed light on the full extent of the crime.
As the investigation unfolds, the police are urging anyone with additional information related to the case to come forward.
