Manchester City midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne, has hinted that he will not play for the Premier League club at this year’s Club World Cup.

De Bruyne fears he could get injured at the competition and jeopardize a move to a new club.

The 33-yer-old is set to leave City at the end of his contract and become a free agent.

If De Bruyne wants to play at the Club World Cup which is scheduled for June and July in the US, he would need to sign a short-term extension.

But he remains skeptical about the idea, as he seeks to join a new team in the summer.

“I think in a way I have to take care of myself because if I get injured in the Club World Cup, what am I going to do?” De Bruyne said.

“Nobody’s going to take care of me at that point. So there’s a big chance probably I won’t play it, but I don’t know, maybe yes.”
