Morrocco then defeated Haiti 4-2 to qualify from Group C as runners-up.
In the Round of 32, they eliminated The Netherlands on penalties and then thrashed co-hosts Canada 3-0 in the last 16.
Out of the 10 African teams that went to this year’s World Cup, only Egypt also reached the last 16, where they lost 3-2 to Argentina.
There were nine African countries in the Round of 32 stage: DR Congo, South Africa, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Egypt, Cape Verde, Morocco, and Algeria.
