Fresh reports have emerged alleging that the FBI has launched an investigation into the football federation of Argentina.

With Argentina still savoring in their 2026 World Cup victory over Egypt, attention has also shifted to reports surrounding the finances of the Argentine Football Association (AFA).

According to an investigation by Argentine newspaper La Nacion, later cited by Fox Sports Mexico, the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has reportedly begun examining the AFA’s financial activities within the country. The reported probe centres on allegations that the federation may have used the U.S. banking system to move large sums of money in transactions that could potentially violate American financial laws.

The report states that investigators are trying to determine how the AFA, under the leadership of president Claudio Tapia, transferred hundreds of millions of dollars through U.S.-based financial institutions and whether any of those transactions could amount to money laundering or other offences that fall under U.S. jurisdiction.

A key focus of the reported investigation is TourProdEnter LLC, a Florida-based company responsible for handling many of the AFA’s overseas financial operations.

Based on financial records reviewed by La Nacion, TourProdEnter LLC allegedly processed at least $260 million in AFA-related revenue through accounts held at several major U.S. banks, including Citibank, Synovus, Bank of America, JPMorgan and PNC Bank.

The newspaper further claimed that while part of the money could be linked to legitimate operating expenses, approximately $57 million was reportedly transferred to various companies and individuals without a clear commercial purpose. The investigation alleges that some of the recipient companies did not provide identifiable services, while others were reportedly controlled by individuals who, according to official records reviewed by the publication, were receiving social welfare benefits and living in Bariloche or Buenos Aires.

As of now, neither the FBI nor the Argentine Football Association has publicly confirmed the reported investigation. The allegations remain based on media reports, and no formal charges have been announced.
