Lebohang Ramalepe has urged her South Africa teammates to exhibit mental toughness in their FIFA Women’s World Cup ‘play-in’ against Nigeria’s Super Falcons.

Desire Ellis’ side missed out on automatic qualification following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to hosts Morocco in their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final fixture.

The Super Falcons suffered a 1-0 loss to the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in their quarter-final fixture.

Banyana Banyana must now beat their perennial rivals to secure a place at the inter-confederation playoffs.

Ramalepe rallied her teammates to demonstrate more mental resilience against the Super Falcons.

“What is required is mental toughness. As a team, we just need to ask ourselves: what is it that we want?

“If we go into the next match with the mentality of ‘all is lost’…no, we still have a chance, all is not lost,” Ramalepe was quoted by ESPN.
