A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of a 61-year-old man, Cosmos Olufemi, over an alleged offence of attempted m8rder.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that there was probable cause to remand the defendant, who was reasonably suspected of committing the alleged offence against Aderibigbe Olawale.
Oriyomi said the offence, which allegedly occurred within the Iyin-Ekiti Magisterial District on August 15, 2026, is punishable under Section 241 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor told the court that further investigation was required and requested that the defendant be remanded for 30 days.
He said the original case file had been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice and urged the court to grant the application.
The defendant’s plea was not taken. He was represented by Barrister E. O. Adedeji.
In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the correctional facility.
The court adjourned the case until September 25, 2026, for mention.
