Ahead of the planned reopening of airports throughout the country, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has stated that passengers on international flights may have to be at the airport five hours before departure.

The minister, who made this clear during an inspection of Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja and Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos on Saturday 27 June, said that they are providing the necessary equipment to help passengers adapt efficiently to the new normality and ensure that no time is wasted.

said Sirika;

“We will re-announce all protocols before the opening. But you must be at the airport three hours before your flight.

“The experience is quite nice, but it takes a bit of time, so you need to be at the airport three hours before your local flight. For an international flight, we can allow five hours.”

On the profitability of the airline business after the resumption, the Minister said;

“These new standards are coming, and we will implement them in such a way that flights are profitable. The World Health Organisation and the International Civil Aviation Organisation have drawn up minutes of the meeting.
