Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola believes that Newcastle United have an advantage by not competing in Europe in 2023, unlike his team, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United amid the Premier League title race.

According to Guardiola, Newcastle are only focusing on the Premier League title race in 2023, unlike their rivals, who are still competing in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.

Man City are just two points ahead of third-placed Newcastle United on the Premier League table, while Arsenal are on top of the log.

Newcastle have surprised many onlookers with their rapid progress this season under their manager Eddie Howe.

Speaking ahead of Man City’s Premier League tie with Everton on Saturday evening, Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference, “It’s a big advantage [for Newcastle not competing in Europe], I think so, definitely, just focusing on one thing, it’s much better.

“They are still in the Carabao Cup still, but it is better, yeah.”

He added, “It’s not about Arsenal and Newcastle, it’s about ourselves. We won the leagues because we were ourselves.”
