Former Spain goalkeeper, Santiago Canizares, has hit out at Chelsea’s latest signing, Joao Felix, saying the Portugal international ‘is not humble enough.’
Chelsea completed the signing of Felix on a six-month loan for £11 million on Wednesday.
But Felix’s attitude has been panned by Canizares, a former Real Madrid keeper.
“The club [Atletico Madrid] isn’t to blame for anything about Joao Felix,” Canizares told Radio Marca.
“On the contrary – they placed a trust in him that perhaps he didn’t deserve, he was hired for a fortune. He has talent, but he has to change his personality.
“He’s the most affected because the club paid an amount that perhaps was for more established players.”
He continued, “He[Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone] is partly to blame for not being able to exploit him [Felix].
“But the most important thing a coach can count on is the player’s will and the player has never been humble enough to overcome difficult moments within the club.”
Recall that Felix joined Atletico Madrid from Benfica for £113m in July 2019.
