Former Manchester United star Rafael van der Vaart has said that current Premier League leaders Arsenal are ‘showing signs of slipping up’ in the title race.

According to him, Mikel Arteta’s side are starting to lose their control over matches.

Manchester City travel to the Emirate Stadium to face Arsenal on Wednesday evening and would go six points clear in the Premier league with a win while City could top the table with a victory.

Mikel Arteta’s side have dropped five points from their last two matches, losing to Everton and recording a draw against Brentford.

And Tottenham hero Van der Vaart is suspecting that the Gunners might be running out of steam and feels the mental toll of a title race on the young Gunners could be a decisive factor.

“I think Arsenal are showing signs of slipping up,” Van der Vaart told Ladbrokes: Fanzone.

“But most of those guys aren’t used to the pressure that comes with a title race. That’s what they’re feeling now.

“They’ve had a run of games now without winning, and Manchester City have closed the gap. I just don’t think they’re the same anymore. Maybe I’m totally wrong; this is just my feeling.

He noted that Manchester City and Manchester United are very close to taking the top positions if Mikel Arteta and his men cannot keep up the pace.

“Would I go as far as to say Arsenal have been found out a little? Maybe,” he added.

Tottenham further noted that the mentality of Arsenal’s young team will go a long way to determine how long they would go.
