Liverpool legend, John Barnes has predicted the Reds to qualify for the UEFA Champions League quarter-final stage ahead of Real Madrid.

Liverpool will host Real Madrid in Tuesday’s Champions League round of 16 first-leg tie at Anfield.

But Barnes thinks Liverpool will emerge victorious against the La Liga champions.

“After the win against Everton and Newcastle, Liverpool will have a lot of confidence,” John told BonusCodeBets.

“Real Madrid is a very good side and they have a lot of experience. They are second in the league with a very good manager.

“Over two legs, I fancy Liverpool. I would be less confident if it was a one-off game. As you saw in the Champions League final, Liverpool should have won, but anything can happen because Madrid knows how to get the job done.”

After tonight’s clash at Anfield, Real Madrid will host Liverpool in the return leg in Spain next month.
