Manchester United striker Wout Weghorst has responded to being called the worst player in Erik ten Hag’s squad.
The Netherlands international insisted that he is ‘doing a good job’ for the club and has earned the trust of the manager.
The striker, who joined the Red Devils in January to provide cover to injury prone Anthony Martial following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, has managed to score just two goals in 18 appearances.
Popular British broadcaster, Richard Keys, had recently slammed the Dutchman and branded him the worst player to ever wear the club’s jersey since 1960.
Also Old Trafford legend Paul Scholes claimed that the striker does not have the quality needed to play for United.
Weghorst said during the international break: “I’ve played a lot of matches and it shows the trust in me. It also shows that I am doing a good job for the team.
“That was the thing I wanted when I came here – to contribute and try and help the club to be successful to win trophies.
“So it just shows me that I am being part of it. And being part of us being successful and that appreciation, that’s a good thing.”
