Adults in Ondo State are now reportedly to voluntarily pay N1,000 annually as education levy to support the state Education Endowment Fund.

The state government said it was targeting N1billion annually from the payment of N1,000 per taxable adult.

Chairman of the Board of the Ondo State Education Endowment Fund (OSEEF), Akinsola Akinfenwa, speaking at the unveiling of the education levy in Akure, said it was introduced following amendment to the OSEEF law in 2022.

Akinfenwa, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Femi Agagu, said the levy was to provide a pool of financial resources independent of normal government subventions to renovate, rejuvenate and generally up- grade the education system in Ondo State.
