Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo has said he ‘suffered’ humiliation after his failed move to Arsenal in January.
According to him, fans of his club picked him out, made fun of him, and treated him badly after the window closed.
The midfielder had decided to leave Brighton in the winter transfer window and even went on to hand in a public transfer request.
The player went as far as taking to social media to make his intention to leave the club clear, with Arsenal and Chelsea interested in signing him.
But the Seagulls stood their ground and decided he was not for sale, rejecting all bids from the top clubs.
“I was really close to going. I suffered a lot. I’m sure I’m going to have many more opportunities,” he told Telegraph.
“It was tough. At the beginning when I didn’t end up going, lots of people would make fun of me on Instagram. People treated me badly. I didn’t check my social media because it would hurt me to see things.”
