Former Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Newcastle United striker, Michael Owen has hailed Super Eagles’ Alex Iwobi after the Nigerian saved Everton from another defeat in the Premier League last night.
Everton and Leicester City, two relegation-battling sides, settled for a 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium on Monday night.
The Nigeria international had made an error in the build-up to Leicester’s goal scored by Jamie Vardy in the 33rd minute.
But the former Arsenal midfielder atoned for his mistake when he scored an important goal in the second half.
“It was a nice finish, really nice finish. I’m not sure whether it would have been simple if the defender wasn’t there,” Owen said on Premier League Productions while analysing Iwobi’s contribution.
“Was he concentrating on the finish or was he just trying to strike through the ball but it ended up being a good finish.”
He added that it is always important for people to look for ways to correct their mistakes when they make one.
The draw put Leicester City in 16th position in the league, with just one point separating them and Everton, who are second from the bottom.
