Chelsea have emerged as favourites to sign Brazil wonderkid Vitor Roque.

The young striker is widely regarded and called the new Ronaldo Nazario and has also been compared to Barcelona legend Luis Suarez.

Spanish site Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona would not fight for the Brazilian’s signature due to their financial issues and have now gone behind Chelsea in the race to sign Roque.

The player actually wants to play for Barcelona but the Catalans are not in a position to pay the €35 million demanded by Atletico Paranaense.

The Blues are keen on bolstering their attack and believe that he can be the next big signing for their Project 2030.

Chelsea has already acquired the services of Andrey Santos from Brazil, Kendry Paez from Ecuador, and Cesare Casadei from Italy for their project.

Now the 18-year-old Roque is eligible to sign for any club in Europe this summer and was of interest to Arsenal too.
