Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has reacted to the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as the new manager at Chelsea Football Club.

The Englishman believed the Blues would break back into the top four of the top flight of English football next season following the Argentine’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues confirmed on Monday that the former Tottenham Hotspur boss had signed a two-year contract with the club, with an option for a further year.

The Argentine, who has handled Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain, and Southampton, will begin his new role on July 1.

Chelsea finished 12th in the Premier League this season, which represents their worst performance in more than 25 years.

Hargreaves, who described Pochettino as an ‘amazing fit’ for the Blues, believed there would be a major improvement at the west London club next season.

The former England midfielder said on Optus Sport: “It’s a great appointment, a brilliant appointment. I think Poch will be an amazing fit for them, and I think they’ll be a top-four side again next season. But Poch will have a clear idea of how he wants to play, and they’ve got some fabulous players. I think Chelsea will be right there again next season.”
