The outgoing Ninth Senate on Wednesday shifted its valedictory session earlier fixed for Thursday to Saturday.

Senate President Ahmad Lawan, who said this while addressing reporters in Abuja, informed the shift became necessary to allow Senators-elect to meet President Bola Tinubu by 2 pm on Thursday.

Lawan said the outgoing 9th Senate would find consolation in its numerous achievements as a parliament.

He added that President Muhammadu Buhari has so far assented to over 112 bills passed by the Ninth National Assembly, thus making the outgoing parliament one of the best in terms of performance in the 4th Republic and current political dispensation.

He listed the bills passed and assented to by Buhari including the Bank and Other Financial Institutions Act, Security and Exchange Commission Act, Electoral Act, etc.

He said some of the Acts helped to reform the economic sector, industry, social environment and the nation’s electoral system.
