Chelsea’s pursuit of Villarreal star Nico Jackson has been hit by a complication over the player’s release clause.
The west London club have agreed personal terms with Jackson and manager Mauricio Pochettino views the Senegalese star as a solution to Chelsea’s striking issues.
Jackson has a €35m release clause which Villarreal want Chelsea to pay in full up front.
However, according to Relevo, Chelsea are trying to pay the fee in instalments instead, which has led to a complication.
The Blues are desperate to sign a new forward ahead of the 2023-2024 season with Kai Havertz heavily linked to Arsenal.
Jackson scored 12 goals across 26 games in La Liga for Villarreal last season.
