Actor Yul Edochie has begged President Bola Tinubu, who he described as a father to release leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
On June 29, 2021, former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, announced Kanu was arrested and extradited to Nigeria from Kenya after being intercepted in the East African country on Sunday, June 26, 2021, by Interpol.
He said Kanu was extradited to face trial for charges bordering on treasonable felony instituted against him at the Federal High Court in Abuja, in response to years of separatist agitation for an independent Republic of Biafra through IPOB.
Joining others to request the release of Kanu, the film star prayed to the President who he described as a ‘builder and supporter of men and women’ to grant his humble appeal.
“To our Leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, @officialABAT GCFR. The Jagaban. A man who has fought for democracy for 3 decades, A builder & supporter of men & women.
“My President, please release Nnamdi Kanu. A humble request from your son, Yul Edochie,” he tweeted.
