Arsenal hero, Ray Parlour, has backed the club’s new summer signing, Kai Havertz, to emulate Martin Odegaard at the Gunners following his £65million move from Chelsea.
Havertz signed a five-year contract with Arsenal from Chelsea.
The Germany international scored 19 goals in 91 Premier League matches for Chelsea and netted the winner in the 2021 UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City.
Speaking on Havertz’s move to Arsenal, Parlour said that the forward could play in different roles, adding that he will be a ‘really good signing’ for Mikel Arteta’s side and reckons he can imitate Odegaard by reviving his career at Arsenal.
Recall that Odegaard’s career was flagging during his spell at Real Madrid, but the Norway midfielder, who is now Arsenal’s captain, is currently considered one of the best players in the Premier League.
“Kai Havertz has a massive opportunity,” Parlour told JBI Training.
“I think he could be a really good signing. You need quality back-up across all positions, and I think he can play in a number of roles for Arsenal.
“In many ways, it is quite similar to when Arsenal signed Martin Odegaard.”
