The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday described a purported list of ministerial nominees as mere speculation.
Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, who appeared on Channels Politics Today, said the party was still consulting and that the list was not ready.
It was a reiteration of the presidency’s statement last week that the list in circulation was not genuine.
Omisore, who noted that it was the prerogative of the President to form a government of national unity, hinted that the cabinet will not be large.
The APC’s scribe also said there was the possibility of merging some ministries to meet the present realities.
He dismissed the rumour making the rounds that the ruling party was in crisis.
Omisore said,
“Our party is cool and calm as an ocean. So far, so good, there is no single wrangling in our party.”
On those jostling for cabinet positions, he said it is the right of everybody to seek a position in a political state like Nigeria to advance their political career and pedigree, but the prerogative to choose stops on the table of Mr. President in line with the Constitution.
Also yesterday, APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who appeared on Arise TV, said the ruling party is waxing stronger.
He said,
“By the grace of God, we will continue to wax stronger and stronger. We will by the grace of God start planning and work till the end of this term, strive to get another mandate for the second term for President Ahmed Tinubu.
“We know we may have made some mistakes. We do know we are not perfect, and to that extent, will correct where we have gone wrong.
“We will find a way of reconciling with ourselves, especially where we find that there are genuine differences between us.”
