Bayern Munich and Germany legend Lothar Matthaus has tipped Victor Boniface to slug it out with Harry Kane for the top scorer honour in the Bundesliga this season.
The Nigeria international linked up with Xabi Alonso’s side from Belgian Pro League outfit Union St Gilloise last month.
The 22-year-old opened his goal account for his new club, netting a brace in the 3-0 victory against Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.
Boniface has scored two goals and provided one assist in two outings for Die Werkself.
Kane, on the other hand, has scored one goal and registered two appearances for Bayern Munich.
Matthaus claimed the duo will fight for the highest goal scorer honour.
”You can see that he’s always looking for a goal, but also keeps seeing his team-mates and assisting them, like in the preparation for the first goal against Leipzig,” Matthaus told Sky Deutschland.
“We will see a few more goals from him. I see him fighting for the top scorer gong with Harry Kane.”
