Former Manchester City manager, Roberto Mancini has said that he is keen to make history after being appointed as new Saudi Arabia national team coach.

Mancini signed a four-year contract worth around €30m-a-season on Sunday.

This is coming less than a few weeks after he resigned as the manager of Italy national team.

Reacting to his new appointment, Mancini said in a video posted on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter: “I made history in Europe, now is time to make history with Saudi.”

The Italian added on his Twitter account: “I thank President Yasser Al Misehal.

“I am thrilled to have accepted this new project which is based on sharing the strategic vision of growth in the football sector and in particular in the world of young people that I have always cared about.

“This assignment is a recognition of the value attributed to Italian football and also in this experience I will proudly bring our Italian spirit to the world.”
