Former England international, Wayne Rooney is being lined up to take over as Birmingham City manager, and he is likely to bring former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole and former Manchester United defender John O’Shea with him.

Rooney recently left his role as DC United manager.

Birmingham have been doing well in the Championship but have chosen to sack manager John Eustace despite sitting sixth in the table after eleven games.

The American owners are keen on bringing in Rooney, and now the former Manchester United striker has left the MLS, a move looks likely.

According to the BBC, Rooney won’t be the only big name to arrive at Birmingham, but his former England teammate Cole and former Manchester United teammate O’Shea will come with him to St Andrew’s.

Cole has been coaching the England Under-21 team.

O’Shea, meanwhile, is currently the assistant coach with the Republic of Ireland
