Former Governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kalu has been affirmed as the winner of Abia North Senatorial District by a court of appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday, November 6.

Justice Abiri who delivered judgement in the appeal filed by candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Nnamdi Iro Orji, and his counterpart from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Mao Ohabunwa, ruled that the appeal lacks merit.

The court held that Senator Kalu complied with the provisions of the Electoral Act. It also faulted the arguments of both petitioners that the election was not held in over 120 polling units, mainly in Ohafia and Arochukwu local government areas of the zone.
