New co-owner of Manchester United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has suggested that the club needs to sign a player like Paul Scholes or Andres Iniesta to improve their current squad.

Speaking recently on the Geraint Thomas Cycling Club podcast, Ratcliffe stated that the midfield needs a player who is not solely defensive-minded like Kobbie Mainoo and Casemiro.

He argued that a player like Scholes or Iniesta would be perfect for the current Manchester United squad.

Ratcliffe believes that the team should prioritize signing a midfielder rather than focusing on the return of Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Paul Scholes. I think that is the player that is most missing.

“Casemiro and Mainoo are sort of quite defensive midfielders, but they don’t have a Scholes or an Iniesta,” he said.
