Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, has handed Chelsea two signings to make in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Chelsea’s resurgence isn’t enough to bridge the gap to the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool.

Despite an upturn in form, the Blues finds themselves in seventh place in the Premier League, a considerable distance from the Champions League spots and trailing leaders Arsenal by 29 points.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side has shown glimpses of promise, particularly with recent successes in cup competitions, offering a glimmer of hope for the upcoming season.

However, according to Merson, Chelsea’s resurgence isn’t enough to bridge the gap to the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool.

He emphasizes the need for reinforcement in the transfer market, pinpointing two crucial positions.

“Chelsea haven’t been consistent enough,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“They are doing well at the moment, fair play, and they’re right in the race for Europe.

“They are miles off Man City and Arsenal. You’ve got to look at the all-round picture.

“They’ve got to bring in experience in the summer. It looks like Thiago Silva’s going, he’s their main experienced player.

“They probably need an experienced centre-half to take Silva’s place, and they could do with another centre-forward too.”
