Former Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri has admitted that leaving the west London club was the greatest mistake of his career.
Sarri said his decision to leave the Blues was a ‘fundamental mistake’ in his career.
The Italian, 65, spent just one season at Chelsea during which he guided them to victory over Arsenal in the Europa League final in 2019.
He had already played the Carabao Cup final earlier that year where they were beaten on penalties by Manchester City at Wembley.
Sarri then decided to leave Stamford Bridge in order to return to Italy and join Juventus.
He now regrets his move away from the Premier League.
“Leaving Chelsea has been my biggest mistake,” he told Sky Italia.
“There was a good basis to stay there and continue at the club, I did a big mistake in that moment.
“We won the Europa League, the project was great but I wanted to return in Italy, unfortunately.”
