Portugal attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva has urged his international teammate Joao Neves to reject a move to Manchester United and instead join him at Manchester City this summer.
Man United have identified Neves as a key summer transfer target.
The Red Devils have already failed with a £51 million bid for the Benfica star.
Man United are keen to sign a replacement for Casemiro following the Brazilian’s difficult second season at Old Trafford.
Neves has a release clause of £105 million, but Benfica will reportedly consider offers of around £85 million for the 22-year-old.
Asked about speculation linking Neves to Man United, Silva was quoted by Metro UK as saying: “I told him to go to Manchester City. I would like to see him by my side. But I want the best for him.”
