Legendary Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has opened up on how the Premier League club failed to sign Kylian Mbappe.

According to Wenger, Monaco convinced Mbappe to snub the Gunners in 2016.

The player was 17 at the time and on the fringes of the first team at Monaco.

The following year, a childhood picture of Mbappe wearing a yellow Arsenal shirt from 2004 surfaced online.

However, later that same year, the France captain completed a loan move to Paris Saint-Germain with an obligation to buy worth €180million.

Mbappe has now joined Real Madrid as a free agent this summer.

“At the beginning of your career, you don’t have too much pressure at the start and they managed to persuade him to extend it by promising him that he would play more easily at Monaco than at Arsenal, Liverpool or Real Madrid.

“We can say that his parents advised him well and that he made the right decision,” Wenger told TF1.
