A newly released surveillance video reveals the harrowing moments leading up to the fatal shooting of Florida rapper Julio Foolio.
The video shows Foolio with almost no time to react as gunmen approached and opened fire on his car outside a Tampa hotel on June 23, just two days after his 26th birthday.
The footage, captured in the shared parking lot of a Hilton and a Holiday Inn, shows a masked gunman waiting for Foolio’s black car. The rapper had been in town celebrating with friends, and the party had moved from an Airbnb to the hotel, as documented on his Instagram shortly before the shooting.
At 4:37 AM, the video shows a masked gunman running through the parking lot, wielding what appears to be a semi-automatic rifle. The gunman begins firing at Foolio’s car as it tries to speed away, hitting a curb in the process. Other gunmen can be seen in the distance.
The shooter fired from point-blank range, resulting in Foolio’s death. Three other passengers in the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and the suspects fled the scene.
Following the tragic incident, Foolio’s mother released a statement acknowledging her son’s lifestyle while announcing plans to release a documentary about his life. Despite his death, Foolio’s Instagram account remains active, featuring a bizarre AI-generated video that superimposes his face onto WWE Undertaker’s body.
