The Nasarawa State Police command has arrested two notorious “One Chance” armed robbers and recovered their operational vehicle in the Karu Local Government Area of the state.
The spokesperson of the command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, who disclosed this in a press statement made available in Lafia on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, said the suspects threw an unsuspecting female passenger of out the moving vehicle after robbing her of her valuables.
According to the PPRO, the suspects who engaged in stealing items from unsuspecting members of the public were apprehended following painstaking efforts by officers of the command.
“On 13/8/2024 at about 2030hrs, information was received that suspected armed robbers riding in a Toyota Corolla 1994 model with Reg. No. Benue MKD 77 TF picked up an unsuspecting passenger from New Nyanya en route to Area 1, Abuja, but robbed the passenger of her handbag, iPhone, and other valuables and threw their victim out of the moving vehicle,” the statement read.
“Upon receipt of the information, Police operatives attached to New Karu Area command, in collaboration with public-spirited individuals, gave the criminals a hot chase and intercepted their vehicle,”
Nansel said the swift and coordinated efforts resulted in the interception of the suspects’ vehicle.
“The suspects, identified as John Iorfa, 29, and James Agbo, 37, both from Makurdi, Benue State, were arrested on the spot“
“The items stolen from the victim were also recovered during the operation,” he added.
Nansel added that the suspects had made useful statements and that efforts are ongoing to arrest other syndicate members.
