Al Nassr captain, Cristiano Ronaldo has paid tribute to Raphael Varane after the Frenchman recently announced his retirement from football.

Ronaldo and Varane were former team-mates at Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Varane had, on Wednesday, announced his retirement from football.

He decided to hang his boots after an injury-plagued stint at newly promoted Serie A side Como.

Varane took to Instagram to announce his retirement.

However, replying to Varane’s post announcing his retirement, Ronaldo said:

“A great career and a football legend! Congratulations for everything brother, hope to see you soon.”
