Former England defender Micah Richards has tipped Liverpool to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the Reds beat Chelsea 2-1, Richards said Arne Slot’s men “are challengers now.”
Curtis Jones scored the winner after Nicolas Jackson cancelled out Mohammed Salah’s opener at Anfield.
The result means Liverpool stay on top of the table with 21 points from eight matches.
Richards said: “Liverpool are challengers now—there’s no mistake about it.
“Chelsea were exceptional at times during the game but I think Liverpool, in the way they can see out a game and adapt with the slower build-up and the way they feed off the crowd’s energy, I feel they have the chance to go all the way this year.”
