Former Liverpool player, Dietmar Hamann, has backed the team to pip Manchester City and Arsenal to the Premier League title this season.

Liverpool finished nine points behind Manchester City last campaign but are atop the 2024-25 Premier League table with 21 points from eight games.

The Reds beat Chelsea 2-1 at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday to keep their slender lead over City.

Liverpool parted ways with Jurgen Klopp and hired Arne Slot as a replacement and the boss has hit the ground running with seven wins and one defeat in the Premier League so far.

The Reds have let in just three goals and have scored 15 goals so far.

Speaking to FlashScore, Hamann said, “I think Liverpool have shown they can win the Premier League. Apart from the Nottingham Forest game, they’ve been brilliant.

“The team functions well, everyone is happy and psychologically, and the win against Chelsea is huge. It was an even game but [the Reds] came out on top, which is a massive sign of intent.

“Manchester City have lost Rodri, he can’t be replaced and Arsenal dropped points… I think Liverpool have a great chance to win the Premier League and go far in the Champions League.”
