Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes wants the club to sign 26-year-old midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Socieded.

According to Scholes, Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim likes Zubimendi and the Red Devils should sell four players in a bid to raise funds to sign the Spanish footballer to in the summer.

He also believes Amorim dropped a transfer hint over Zubimendi when speaking about the player.

Amorim spoke about Zubimendi in his pre-match interview ahead of Man United’s Europa League last-16 second leg victory over Real Sociedad on Thursday.

When asked about the inclusion of Zubimendi in Real Sociedad’s XI for the second leg tie, after the player missed the first leg through sickness, Amorim told TNT Sports: “He is a top player that can change a team.

“Especially in that position [defensive midfield] he is one position that can read and block transitions.”

Following Amorim’s comments, Scholes said: “From that interview, the manager quite likes Zubimendi!

“If we sell three or four players we might be able to buy him but tonight’s a big night.”

Zubimendi, who has been linked with the likes of Man United, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool, is thought to have a €60m release clause in his contract.
