Police in Kondele have arrested a woman accused of scalding her 17-year-old son with hot water after he allegedly stole and sold 2 kilograms of maize from their home in Manyatta, Kisumu County.

The boy, a Form Three student at St. Loyola Magadi Secondary School, is currently admitted to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) with severe burn injuries.

Kondele Location Chief Maurice Ajwang confirmed the incident, stating that the mother was taken into custody on Thursday evening after it emerged that she was responsible for the attack.

According to Chief Ajwang, the woman confessed to boiling water and pouring it on her son as punishment, leading to her immediate arrest. She is being held at Kondele Police Station as investigations continue.

Police have launched a full probe into the matter, while the victim remains hospitalized and is receiving treatment.

Authorities have assured the public that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
