The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old woman, Janet Dominic, for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The spokesperson of the command, CSP Moses Yamu, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

Yamu stated that the suspect was arrested on April 10, 2025, during a mop-up operation by the Command’s X-Squad

The operation was carried out at Iguezemwahu community, along the Benin-Auchi Road in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area.

The PPRO noted that the operation was part of the State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika’s commitment to eradicating criminal elements from the state.

According to him, another suspect, identified only as Dominic, fled the scene upon sighting the police.

Items recovered from the arrested suspect include two single-barrel guns, three pistols, seven live cartridges, one dagger, a trigger mechanism, and one Beretta magazine.

The weapons were reportedly concealed inside the seat of a motorcycle.

Yamu added that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplice
