Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim has singled out the likes of Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo for praise following his side’s UEFA Europa League semi-final second leg 4-1 win against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday.

A brace from Mount and a goal each from Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund gave Man United the victory over the Spanish LaLiga club at Old Trafford.

Speaking on TNT Sports after the match, Amorim said he was delighted to see the midfielders – Mount and Mainoo – come off the bench and help win the game for the Red Devils.

The Portuguese said he likes Mainoo and was happy for Mount.

Amorim said: “I’m so happy for Mason Mount. I really liked Kobbie Mainoo. Sometimes you are on the bench and you change the game.”

Talking to reporters after the match, Amorim added: “When you see that kind of guy like Mason working hard every day, eating well, having ice baths, when you have this kind of player you just want to help him.

“He is perfect for this position as he can be a midfielder, but also runs like a winger, so I’m really happy for him.”

Man United will now face Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final later this month.
