The operation also led to the arrest of two other suspects and the recovery of a cache of weapons and valuables stolen from residents.
According to the spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, the incident began around 3:10 am when eight armed men stormed Gashash Estate in Barnawa.
The suspects, reportedly armed with a locally made pistol and other dangerous weapons, allegedly robbed residents of mobile phones, laptops, wrist watches, gaming consoles, and jewelry.
Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Barnawa, in collaboration with DPOs from Kakuri and Sabon Tasha Divisions, as well as personnel from the 312 Artillery Regiment Kalapanzi, swiftly mobilised to the scene.
The suspects were later tracked to Makera Main Road, where a fierce gun duel ensued.
“In the process, two of the armed robbers were neutralised, while two others were arrested,” DSP Hassan said.
He said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining gang members who fled the scene.
