Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso has insisted that the club’s 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semi-final tie on Wednesday is a bitter end to Luka Modric’s Los Blancos career.

PSG thrashed Real Madrid, thanks to goals from Fabian Ruiz, Ousmane Dembele and Goncalo Ramos.

Modric featured against the French Ligue 1 champions after coming off the bench but could not help the Los Blancos avoid a heavy defeat.

The match against PSG was Modric’s last game as a Real Madrid player.

The Croatia captain will join AC Milan this summer after Real Madrid opted not to extend his deal at Santiago Bernabeu.

Speaking after the game, Alonso said: “Definitely, it’s a bitter end to Modric’s Real Madrid career.

“Apart from that, he is a club legend. He is a football legend.

“He is a great man. He will be remembered forever in Madrid.”
